Spring into Summer with Very Valero & Essie
With Winter weather almost behind us, it’s that time of year again when we start shedding our winter clothing opting for lighter fabrics in “it” colours of the season. For many of us (or maybe just me), it’s also a rude awakening that mayhaps our Winter hibernation resulted in some Winter pounds and thus last years Spring/Summer wardrobe isn’t looking so hot. Recently, I’ve had the absolute pleasure of getting to know an incredibly talented Toronto based jewellery designer—Very Valero. After returning from Spain in 2009, Very Valero found herself longing for Spanish fashion and accessories that were no longer accessible in her every day life. What’s a jewellery junkie to do? She began designing pieces for herself and after an overwhelming response from friends and Torontonian’s alike, Very Valero came to be and a jewellery brand featuring beautiful, unique designs that won’t break the bank was born.
Inspired by any and everything, this self-taught jewellery maven believes that “it’s like we are each a canvas, our own art director and can determine what kind of ‘art’ we display on ourselves to bring that extra je ne sais quoi.” What gives her the most pleasure in her career as a jewellery designer? The love and support from clients and feeling like she’s creating a piece of art for someone, allowing them to express themselves via fashion accessories.
