Holiday Gift Guide for Her

Having some shopping woes now that we’re a week away from the holidays? Whether you need gift ideas for others or you’re doing some good old fashioned holiday shopping for yourself, read below. When it comes to the girly girl there is no better person to pick out her gift than another girly girl. No need to thank me. You can just get me something from this list!

Face it, we know what we like and what we want. Let’s get right to it for once and be honest with those around us so that you’re a) not stuck with a bunch of stuff you don’t want and b) not returning everything during the madness that is Boxing Day shopping. And when in doubt, gift cards, gift cards, gift cards! They’re truly the perfect gift. True, it’s not the most exciting thing to open but hey, you have to pick you battles.

If you’re stuck and needing some gift inspiration/stocking stuffers, look no further! Check it out below.

1. Lip Balm

You simply can’t go wrong with lip balm. In the Winter months everyone needs it for their dry chapped lips. One of my personal faves is the EOS Organic Lip Balm in Sweet Mint. It keeps my lips moist and I love the packaging. I’m a sucker for that kind of thing.

2. Holiday Nail Polish

I love the holidays. Especially because nail polish brands release their seasonal polishes. I’m in love with Essie’s Winter Collection (L-R Leading Lady, Butler Please, Where’s My Chauffeur, Beyond Cozy, Snap Happy and She’s Pampered) featuring bright reds, icy blues and a decadent silvery gold.

3. Lancôme Juicy Tubes

One of my favourite lip glosses, Lancôme Juicy Tubes strike the perfect balance of colour vs. gloss. Trouble picking a colour? Not to worry! Pick up their holiday gift set featuring Raspberry Ice, Berry Bold, Miracle, Pink HorizonMagic Spell and try them all! It’s also a great stocking stuffer if you’re shopping for more than one lady.

4. Fancy Hair Accessories

If you know a girl who takes pride in her hair then she’ll love a fun hair accessory. Whether it’s a barrette or headband—doesn’t matter. I’m obsessed with this cluster barrette from Anthropologie. It’s pretty, shiny and feminine. What more can you ask for?

5. Holiday Socks

I heart socks! And a festive sock? Sign me up! You only get to wear them one occasion a year or maybe twice since we’ve all been guilty of wearing our Rudolph socks in Spring when it’s laundry day. No one will know but you! The Fair Isle socks pictured left from The Gap are a little less holiday obvious so you can wear them all Winter if you want!

6. Statement Ring

Don’t wanna put a ring on it just yet? Then put a statement ring on it! Statement rings are the perfect way to dress up your fingers and draw attention to your flawless manicure. Pictured left is JCrew’s Bow Ring, which I think achieves the perfect amount of girly sparkle.

7. Winter Mittens

I can’t tell you how many adorable Winter mittens I’ve seen this season. And with the holidays around the corner what better way to display your cheer than with your mittens! This Jingle Bells pair is from Topshop for around $40.

8. Makeup Case

Every girl needs a new makeup case from time to time. They get worn out and filthy so quickly. No matter your price point there are great stylish and compact options out there, like the Le Pavillion Small Henrietta from Kate Spade.

9. Perfume

If you like to mix it up and try new fragrances then why not pick a new signature scent for 2013. Described as “a warm spark between sweetness,” I recommend giving Guerlain’s La Petite Robe Noire a sniff. It’s a beautiful fruity floral (but not too fruity) that can compliment a day at the office or an evening cocktail. An added bonus—the packaging is to die for! Definitely a bottle of perfume you’re going to want on display in your house.

  10. Glossybox

The beauty gift that keeps on giving for as long as you want it! Receive 5 deluxe beauty products handpicked for you to your door every single month. I’m currently on a monthly subscription ($21 CAD) and am loving every minute of it. Definitely beats only receiving bills in the mail! For more info check out glossybox.ca.

11. A Throw Blanket

If there is one thing women (and some men) love it’s being cozy and warm and thus a perfect gift would be a beautiful throw blanket. The throw world is your oyster when it comes to colour and texture so personalize the blanket you choose based on its recipients personality. Pictured left is West Elm’s Sunset Throw in “Sea.”

12. Chocolate

When in doubt—chocolate. And 9 times out of ten it doesn’t even matter what kind. Just get chocolate in large quantities and you will be a holiday hero. My fave? Salted caramel chocolates *drool* (Pictured are Purdy’s Himalayan Pink Salted Caramels)

13. Scented Candle

It doesn’t get much easier than a scented candle. It’s the perfect accent to every home and fills the air with a delicious aroma. Also, it can be personal or impersonal. If you know a person’s scent preferences it can be a really thoughtful gift. If last minute you’re stressing over what to give your secret santa it’s still an extremely lovely gift. I love Jo Malone fragrances so it comes as no surprise that I love their candles too (pictured left). Try their White Jasmine and Mint. It’s intoxicating.

14. Earrings

Earrings are a no brainer, plus they can be affordable or expensive depending on who you’re shopping for. As long as her ears are pierced you’re good to go. I recently had my first Very Valero earring experience and am in love. They’re the perfect casual or dressy droplet earring that go with every outfit. She’s an amazing Toronto jewellery designer who you must check out. You can find her at veryvalero.com or on facebook at facebook.com/veryvalero.

15. Ugg Australia Earmuff Headphones

You read correctly. Earmuff’s with headphone technology. BOOM! Mind blown. I can’t remember the last time I saw someone out and about without headphone strings coming from their ears. With Winter upon us let’s all get a pair of these cute earmuffs to keep our ears warm while we listen to Michael Buble croon Santa Baby. Go on, admit it. Everyone likes Buble. We can’t resist that Canadian charm.
